About the Landrover Discovery Sport

K G purchased this Landrover Discovery Sport used for $54,888 (including all on-road costs) in 2022. K G wouldn’t buy this car again because: “The engine light randomly comes on (common issue). Upon researching I found DPF issues are extremely common and quite expensive. So far the filter has been cleaned and then replaced. The light still comes on occasionally. My next service at 60,000km will cost around $1500 and at 80,000km I will need a timing belt. That will cost around $3500.”

How reliable has your car been? Tell us about any issues.

My car drives like a dream and is super comfortable. As mentioned above I have had issues with the engine light coming on related to the diesel filtration system. This has not affected performance of the vehicle in any way.

What do you think of the ownership experience with your car?

I love it as it’s such a beautiful car. As the owner I am always on edge with some of the known issues for this model like the DPF. It’s a great car to drive and is comfortable for passengers.

Are you happy with the price and features of your car?

I think it was a very reasonable price for a used Disco Sport. I also purchased a three-year warranty which I would recommend to anyone considering buying one of these vehicles. Love the options on the car and infotainment system.

What do you think of the performance and economy of your car?

Comfortable on a long drive and handles very well on the road. You can’t really tell the difference between dry and wet conditions as the car adapts so well to its surroundings. Not bad on fuel as I have the diesel model, so not filling up all that often.

What do you think of the technology in your car?

I like it, but it’s a bit behind other cars from the same year.

I can’t get Apple CarPlay which is disappointing and I don’t have the front parking cameras. I love the Meridian speaker system which is quality sound and the Bluetooth connection is great.

What do you think of the ride comfort and handling of your car?

The Disco Sport is the most comfortable car that I’ve owned and if it weren’t for some of the pricey issues I would be sticking with it and would be looking to upgrade each year to the most recent model.

It’s so easy to drive and handles so well in all conditions.

Do you have any additional comments about your car?

I love this car more than any other that Ive owned but will keep it for another 12 months and then sell. My dealership has told me about the upcoming costs and potential problems with the DPF. It’s a real shame.
